Opening the door to the knock, Abigail stood in the dress that strangely fit her like it was made for her. She huffed out a breath when she saw that it was Dominic who stood on the other side of the door.
At one point she would have admitted that he looked handsome in the formal clothes of light grey pants & a hunter green top loose at the throat. Right now though she wanted to kick him hard in the shins and just run for it.
Dominic stood for a moment taking in the dress, that Abigail wore; his eyes going slowly up and down her body. He liked what he saw, she looked almost as regal as a queen should be. No doubt his mother's doing.
Extending his elbow out to her he said; "I'll escort you down to the main hall, word has just come that the Bannion's are just pulling up to the gates." he said, his eyes narrowed, "Remember the life of your friend is in your hands."
Abigail snorted, and stepped forward. Shutting the door firmly behind her. She didn't take his offered arm instead she started walking in the direction that she remembered coming into the hall from.
Dominic hissed, and followed her. Grasping her hand and forcing the contact by placing it in the crook of his arm. Keeping a firm hold to keep it there. He didn't say anything, just walked briskly beside her.
In the main hall his mother and father stood waiting at the head table when they walked in. Both turned their heads; his father's critical eyes scanned Abigail up and down before a small nod of approval and meeting his son's gaze.
"Abigail, King Fredrick Grayton. My father." he introduced; "Father this is my fiancé Abigail."
Abigail stiffly curtsied to the man, though she loathed doing so. Gritting her teeth she looked at the King.
"Abigail ... ? What is your last name child?" he inquired.
"Winters, your majesty" replied Abigail strongly before the man beside could speak for she had seen his mouth opening to reply; "I am common born."
Dominic snarled, when his father's eyes narrowed on him; "Well, son. I do hope this is a marriage you want. Yet I strongly suggest you take Lady Victoria as your wife." he said, looking at his son.
"It's not what I wa.... ow!" Abigail yelped when she felt a pinch on her arm; she glared at the man beside her who was now glaring angrily at her; he bared his teeth.
"What were you going to say child?" the King asked.
Abigail looked at the floor when she felt her hand being crushed by Dominic's larger one; "Nothing" she said, "It was nothing."
Trumpets blared and the family stood up regally straight, Abigail kicked Dominic's shin, and getting the satisfaction of hearing him hiss in pain and glaring at her briefly before the doors were opened admitting a family of three.

The family came to a stop and bowed before the royal family, Abigail shifted as she was studied with a bit of curiosity until the introductions were made.
The lovely Lady Victoria's mouth soured, and Abigail felt her heart soar. Before anyone could even say a word. Abigail stepped forward; "So you are the lucky lady who will be marrying the prince" she said loud enough for all to hear; "I must congratulate you on your catch."
That got the family all excited, and Abigail laced her arm with Victoria dodging the hand of the prince which ended up being grabbed by Victoria's father; "Come tell me all about your wedding plans." she said, as she hustled Victoria out.
Of course Victoria was glad to gush about how happy she was that the prince had chosen her, while her parents were in an uproar and chatting away about the papers and such things. Dominic's eyes glared after the two women as they walked away.
Oh she was going to pay for that little maneuver. He focused on the two parents of the young woman immediately trying to diffuse the situation before it got worse.
Abigail managed to convince Lady Victoria to take the wagon to town and shop for her wedding. It hadn't taken much the woman was in just a frenzy and the idea stuck. As the wagon rolled through the gates with Abigail inside she sighed with relief.
Victoria gushed about what kind of flowers she would buy, what material for her dress and the horses that would pull the wagon that would bring her to her husband.. her guards followed slightly behind the wagon but Abigail was sure she would be able to elude them quite easily once they reached town.
Once they were set about shopping Abigail took her time with Victoria at each stall, though her gaze looked around. Finally she saw three little boys she knew from when she and Hannah used to come to town and chat with the orphaned children.
One little boy came running out and tripped, the wail he let out was enough to allow Abigail to run to his aide, then the commotion began as a group of kids between the ages of 6 and 17 all crowded around. Creating a barrier between Abigail and the guards.
Abigail and the boy ran, they zipped down alleyways and towards where a small shack where they could breath for a bit.
"Miss Hannah sent word she is safe" the boy said, "We managed to get a horse for you Miss Abigail..."
Abigail nodded; "Good, now run along Timothy, and thank you." she said.
The boy nodded and ran off, while Abigail ran in the opposite direction. She found the horse and although she found it wanting she climbed abroad and galloped away. Not looking back and hoping she managed to make it safe to where she and her friend would live.
